Monday through Thursday I would go to the business building's computer room, which is where we held VITA, and I would help client after client with their income taxes. It was interesting to see how the VITA program worked. VITA wanted to see who could qualify for the tax grants. Often millions of dollars that are set aside for people with limited income go unused. That's part of the reason why the IRS set up this program to 1. help identify the people who qualify for the grants and 2. to make available tax professionals to those who normally couldn't afford them.
