As I look back on my time with VITA, I realized that even though my project was geared towards helping the community, my EDGE project actually gave me the biggest benefit. Not only was I given the opportunity to use my tax knowledge in real life, it also gave me more of a sense of belonging to the community. Since the people I helped do taxes for, are people I go to school with, shop with, and do business with.
